UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH
Greenwich Üniversitesi, Londra ve Kent, Birleşik Krallık'ta bulunan bir devlet üniversitesidir. Önceki isimler arasında Woolwich Polytechnic ve Thames Polytechnic bulunmaktadır.
Üniversitenin konu yelpazesi mimarlık, işletme, bilgisayar, matematik, eğitim, mühendislik, beşeri bilimler, denizcilik çalışmaları, doğa bilimleri, eczacılık ve sosyal bilimleri içerir. Greenwich'in mezunları arasında iki Nobel ödüllü isim vardır: Abiy Ahmed ve Charles K. Kao.Üniversite, Birleşik Krallık hükümetinin Öğretimde Mükemmellik Çerçevesinde Gümüş derece almıştır.
Üniversitenin geçmişi, Birleşik Krallık'taki en eski ikinci teknik okul olan Woolwich Polytechnic'in Woolwich'te açıldığı 1891 yılına dayanmaktadır. Frank Didden tarafından Quintin Hogg'un ilkeleri tarafından desteklenerek ve takip edilerek kuruldu ve Ekim 1891'de öğrencilere açıldı. Hogg'un Londra'daki Regent Caddesi'ndeki öncü girişimi gibi, başlangıçta eğitimi sosyal ve dini işlevlerle birleştirdi.
1992'de Thames Polytechnic'e Major hükümet tarafından üniversite statüsü verildi (çeşitli diğer politekniklerle birlikte) ve 1993'te University of Greenwich olarak yeniden adlandırıldı.
2001 yılında üniversite, Woolwich'teki Bathway Quarter'daki tarihi ana kampüsünden vazgeçerek Greenwich'teki mevcut ana kampüsüne taşındı.
